Vintage Wedding in Lazio

I have been really looking forward to Marco & Mariella wedding, as they married in one of my favourite places in the World: the little Civita di Bagnoreggio, in Lazio.
I was there on holiday few years ago and fell in love with the simple and stunning beauty of the old town - so when Mariella asked me if I would be happy to travel there to photograph her wedding I was very excited! Mariella is actually from the town itself, and after marrying in the cutest little Church the reception took place in the garden of her mum's house, now also a bed&breakfast. The personal touches where everywhere, making the wedding a true family love affair. Probably the most heartbreaking of all was that Mariella wore her actual mum's wedding dress… I don't think it could go any more vintage than that… and she even accessorised with her mum's wedding shoes, her orange  flower applique and her scarlet belt, exactly in the same way it was wore almost 40 years ago. The only different touch were a pair of Pucci sunglasses - to shade the sun and the many tears! Marco's suit was also borrowed from a family member and Mariella personally cured and styled all decorations following a lavender theme (including commissioning an enormous pink cake that had everyone dropping their jaw). The favours were a donation to Amref, a charity that provides health care in Africa.
There was also an "Amalia's corner" with photographs and drawings by Amalia, Marco & Mariella - absolutely gorgeous - 2 years old daughter! She slept through almost all of the Church ceremony but was later the life of the party!
